Life seems easy: Buta goes to school, plays with his girlfriend, fights a group of envious boys and meets a new friend and tutor, an old soap seller encouraging him by his worldly wisdom and telling him stories from a long gone past. Bridges. East of West Film Festival
“We met in Tbilisi about thirteen years ago, and although we live in neighbouring countries, we never got the chance to see each other since. But now we’re all here, together in Brussels. That’s what cinema does.” said Azeri director Ilgar Najaf on January 17th at the opening of the Bridges, East of West Film Festival. Azerbaijani film director becomes Young Cinema Award Winner for “Pomegranate Orchard” movie
Previously announced winners included Ilgar Najaf as the Young Cinema Award Winner for Azerbaijan’s foreign-language Oscar entry, Pomegranate Orchard (Nar Bagi) at the 11th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSAs) at a ceremony in Brisbane, Australia. The storyline of the movie is about an old man, who lives along with his grandson and daughter-in-law in the decrepit house amidst of the huge pomegranate garden.
